OBION COUNTY LEPC

MINUTES FROM MAY 29, 2012, 1:00 P.M.

Regional Health Office

 

Members present:  Stan Mitchell, Erin Meier, Phillip Green, Kelly Edmison, Rob Adcock, tom Menees, Lori Barker, Charlie Grooms, Dale Hollowell, Tim James, Sherry Hanna, Gary Duren, Jo Ann Speer and Danny Jowers.

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Phillip Green.  Phillip welcomed everyone.

 

The minutes from April  2012 meeting were presented for approval.  Tom Menees made a motion to accept the minutes, and Stan Mitchell seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

Phillip Green reported that he had spoken with Robin Woods in regards to the communication status.  Phil noted they were still having issues with the radios.

 

Phil also announced that copies of the Bylaws were available for members.

 

Phil had the opportunity to visit the State EOC.  He noted he got some great ideas of how to make the LEPC better.  He also reported that TEMA has requested any hazmat incidents in the county be reported during the LEPC meetings.

 

Kelly Edmison reported on the county wide fire protection service.  At a meeting held this morning, Kelly noted that it seemed to be favorable toward a rural fire tax and would see what happened during the next meeting.

 

Phillip Green reported that Hornbeak and Samburg hosted a safety awareness day recently.

 

Phillip announced the upcoming LEPC Conference in Pickwick on August 7 & 8.  Information on the conference is available for anyone wishing to attend.

 

For upcoming training, Phil told that a 64 hour basic fire class starts tonight in Kenton and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

 

Danny Jowers reported that Fulton County EMA would like to join forces withObionCountyto hold an exercise involving a train derailment incident.  He will ask the Fulton Co. EMA to be present at the next meeting.

 

Sherri Hanna announced thatTennesseeis trying to be the first state to go to the Next Generation 911.  Obion County 911 has begun their upgrade.

 

Rob Adcock reported on an earthquake conference inMemphis.

 

At this time, Phillip Green asked to excuse absent members.  Stan Mitchell made a motion to excuse absent members, Sherri Hanna seconded that motion.  The motion carried.

 

Lori Barker made a motion to adjourn; it was seconded by Stan Mitchell.

 

The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, June 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Regional Health Office inUnion City.
