MINUTES FROM JANUARY 31, 2012, 10:00 A.M.
Regional Health Department
Members present: Stan Mitchell, Phillip Green, Tom Menees, Charlie Grooms, Tim James, Kelly Edmison, Polk Glover, Benny McGuire, Bob Stephenson, Rob Adcock, Dale Hollowell, Danny Jowers and Lori Barker.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Phillip Green.
The minutes from December 2011 meeting were presented for approval. Tom Menees made a motion to accept the minutes, and Stan Mitchell seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Phillip Green reminded everyone that ICS 300 & 400 classes will be held at TEMA West in Jackson on February 15, 16, 17 starting each day at 8:00 a.m. Anyone interesting in taking the classes can obtain an application from Danny Jowers. Prerequisites for the courses are ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
Phillip Green reported on the status of the 800 mhz radio. Phil announces they are still in the process of the swap out and issues with Sprint will hopefully be resolved soon.
Danny Jowers and Lori Barker explained that the POD plan for Obion County had been reviewed with the health department and EMA. The plan is off to a good start with hopes to add sub PODS in the future.
Danny Jowers noted that the Shakeout has been moved to February 7. Obion County EMA will be doing radio communications with TEMA.
Phil noted that fire subscriptions are still a work in progress, there are issues still being worked out. He also announced that the 911 Center/ EOC is in progress of putting in a NG 2012 system.
Danny Jowers reported on the mitigation plan. He is in the process of getting the mayors to sign off on the plan. Danny explained that problems in the county had been identified and prioritized. Danny encouraged all cities to be reporting potential hazards.
Phil announced that Jo Ann Speer with Everett Stewart Airport would like to host a LEPC at their facility. Phil is looking at maybe March to schedule a meeting at the airport.
New training is available for anyone driving emergency vehicles. A Vanessa K course will be held February 20 in Rives, and March 20 in Hornbeak. February 7, 9 and 11 new firefighter course. Also, Part 2 of the high angle confined space rescue at the Ethanol plant is planned for March.
Danny Jowers noted that for Severe Weather Week in February, he will be visiting the schools to do tornado drills and also the nursing homes to make sure their weather radios are working properly and review their plans. Danny encouraged everyone to participate in a drill.
Danny also noted that he is still working with the hospital on doing an exercise. He does have the hospitals scenario and will provide to the LEPC at the next meeting. Danny also provided a inventory list of resources that EMA has and encouraged city’s to type up their inventory list so EMA knows what other resources are out there.
Tom Menees made a motion to excuse those and Kelly Edmison seconded the motion, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting is scheduled for February 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m
