MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 28, 2012, 10:00 A.M.

Regional Health Department

 

Members present:  Stan Mitchell, Phillip Green, Charlie Grooms, Tim James, Kelly Edmison, Polk Glover, Bob Stephens, Rob Adcock, Dale Hollowell, and Lori Barker.

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Phillip Green.

 

The minutes from January 2012 meeting were presented for approval.  Stan Mitchell made a motion to accept the minutes, and Kelly Edmison seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

Phillip Green reported the mitigation plan had been submitted to TEMA and forwarded on to FEMA for approval.  Phillip also noted that he had spoken with Robin Woods in regards to the 800 mhz trunking system, Robin told Phillips he is within less than 60 days of resolving the issues with Sprint.

 

Phillip announced that Green Plains in Obion is providing the second round of rescue operations training March 26 – April 1.  Limited space is available.

 

Phillip noted that the Great American Shakeout took place the first week of February.  He was not impressed with the communication of the HAM radio aspect.

 

Lori Barker explained the SNS Plan (Strategic National Stockpile) with the group.  She explained that the SNS is a cache of medications, antidotes, and medical supplies needed to respond to a wide range of disasters.  The SNS is managed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  Lori explained the amount of time it takes once the SNS is requested to reach one of the health department’s POD sites.

 

Phillip announced there is a new guideline for LEPC groups.  A link to the TEMA website will be sent out to each member along with the Obion County By-laws to be reviewed before the next meeting.  Phil noted that any mail regarding the LEPC was coming to his residence, with the new guidelines, future mail for Obion County LEPC will be going to the EMA office.

 

At the close of the meeting, Phil announced that the future of the Rescue Squad was up in the air.  They have lost 90% of their funding in Obion County.

 

At this time, Bob Stephens made a motion to excuse absent members, Stan Mitchell seconded that motion.  The motion carried.

 

Stan Mitchell made a motion to adjourn, it was seconded by Lori Barker.

 

The next meeting was scheduled for March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Everett-Stewart Regional Airport outside of Union City
